(0) Overall navigation was snappy and pages loaded very fast. The Verge did not load a single picture at all but the hyperlinks were properly arranged. (1) All the websites were poorly rendered. (1) Adblocking available via configuration. Idles around 400mb RAM with aforementioned websites open simultaneously. (3) Rendering and general navigation was choppy and sluggish. (2) All websites were perfectly rendered. This was tested on a dual-core Core2Duo system with 2GB RAM and no graphics card. 2 points for GUI design, 3 points for ability have websites fully function, 3 points for performance, 2 points for extra features aside basic browsing and bookmarking. Marks are awarded on a 10-point basis with these yardsticks. Websites are Facebook, Reddit, 4chan, Youtube, Google and The Verge. So I tried opening several websites and testing if it is fully functional alongside some side notes. I do not have extensive knowledge of all the stuff behind the scenes(Webkit, Javascript etc). So Konqueror(KDE) and Epiphany(Gnome) was not included. Means lynx, w3m and the like are not included.ĭoes not try to install an entire desktop environment with its dependencies. It has to be rendered to look like how it was intended to be. I had a few conditions for picking the browsers. I decided to test a few browsers from the Debian 8 repo. So instead of just listening to recommendations, I tried new browsers.
